Does anyone still use a belt or paddle to spank their child?

My sister and I got into a debate over weather or not its okay to use something to spank your child. Do you think its okay to use a paddle?

  • No, because when you use objects like that your intent is to cause bodily harm, a swat on the but now and then is not intended to hurt and cause harm but objects are and that is not ok, same with bare butt spankings.

  • SO used his belt once on our oldest when he crossed the line. You can bet he didn't try any more funny stuff after that. And he spanked his butt, not his face, chest or anywhere else.

  • I believe in the rule of 3.
1st one is to get their attention, 2nd is discipline, 3rd is reinforcement.... anything beyond that is abuse.

If you have to use anything but your hand, you are abusing. period.

  • never!!! IMO it's abuse and teaches the child nothing but to be fearful of you.
