How much are you suppose to water mums?

i just got some 2 days ago. home dept was having a sale on them.. 4 for $10. i've never had flowers before.. i just bought my first house.. wanting to make the from porch look good :)

anyways i dont want to water them with too much water at one time... i've watered them once a day, but how do i know if im giving them too much water??

  • Just check the soil. If it looks and feels damp then it's ok. I'd water them every one or two days. If it's warm then water more often. If you still have questions you can always call a home depot or something and talk with a plant specialist

  • if i remember correctly, mums dont require as much water as some othe plants. i would wait every 3 days or so. just make sure the top soil isnt crusty...

  • It depends, did you transplant them to pots on the porch or did you transplant them to a bed infront of the porch? You should water them everyday if they are in pots, check the soil to see if it is damp if they are in a bed in front of the porch. A little tip, if you put them in a bed now, they will come back up next year. Just cut them off this fall, after they have quit blooming, and they will come back, in my opinion, bigger than the year before.

  • Just give them a chance to get dry a bit. Not too much but if you have them wet all the time they will get mold or root rot.
