Ears Pierced?

I've been contemplating whether or not I should get my daughters' ears pierced. I'd really like to but I've always been too worried that they'd end up getting ripped out by playing with their siblings or friends. My girls are 3 and 8 months and I have a 4 year old son. Do you have your girl/s ears pierced?! Why or why not

  • just be careful, I got mine pierced at 13 and they still go infected a lot even though I took care of them. I also have lots of metal allergies. If you have sensitive skin in your family or allergies to metal I would wait until they're old enough to tell you if something is wrong. so old enough to know the difference between piercing pain and allergic reaction pain.

  • My pediatrician did my DD at 3 months. You get the round post so they don't catch on anything. You can just search answers, this is a common question and one that always starts a whole bunch of drama.

  • I haven't peirced dds yet... I wanted to but either we didn't have $ or I just forgot! So I'm waiting til the day she asks.... She's 2 now and mine were peirced at 5 years. It's really up to you!

  • My daughter got hers done when she was three, but one came out in the tub and my husband didn't tell me, so we took the other one out.

My 9 year old just got hers done when she was 8. It's been fine. She's diabetic so we waited just in case healing were an issue but it hasn't been.

My neice got both her daughters done the minute they could and haven't had a problem.

FYI - when we got my oldests done I was SHOCKED by how freaking expensive it was. Prices went up,

  • I had my oldest daughter's done when she was old enough to want it done, and ask for it. She was 5. My second daughter is 6.5 and has asked but I haven't done it quite yet because she's just not as mature as my oldest. My 3rd daughter won't have hers done til she's at least 6 - but only if & when she asks. We've never had any issues with them being snagged or ripped out.

  • My daughter got hers done just before her fourth birthday. We wanted to wait until she wanted them, really wanted them. She'd been asking for over a year at that point. I don't agree with piercing a newborn or baby though. In any case, however, I urge you, and anyone, to get your baby/toddler/older child pierced by a professional piercer, one that uses a needle rather then a gun.
