When did doing one's civic duty turn into TATTLING?!

Why is is considered tattling to report someone's illegal activities, such as PA fraud or drug use?

  • In my experience, the word "tattling" is used by a culprit to humiliate others into keeping quiet about his guilt.
    "Whistle-blowing" is the exact same thing, but it has a more respectable ring to it.

    Even as a child, I could see nothing wrong with "tattling", except for the way bullies used it to jeer at kids who had a conscience and were unafraid to speak up.

  • If it is breaking the law it is my business. ESPECIALLY if it is a FELONY! I wouldn't care if they did call me a tattle tale. That kind of sounds first grade to me.

  • Leave the law enforcement to the authorities, ladies. IMO, unless it is directly harming someone, it really ISN'T my/your business, no matter how much the gov. indoctrinates you to believe otherwise.
