What is the best way to curl fine hair?

I need to curl my daughters hair for a pageant and curling irons and hot rollers just don't work. Any suggestions on what or how to roll it?

  • Just spray a little hair spray on the hair while its still wrapped in the curling iron..

  • you can spray while still on the curling iron like previous poster said, or if you want to curl it and make sure it won't fall out, give it a small mist of spray and then curl that little area immediately after spraying. The spray will make it damp and basically set it even more as it's on the iron. Good luck. my daughter has extremely fine hair that doesn't like to hold a curl so i know how you feel, this is all that works for her.

  • Put mousse in her hair while it's still wet. After it dries, put in some hot rollers until they cool completely (you can also leave them in until right before you need to go somewhere or once you get there.) Spray the curls with hair spray (aerosol works best) once the curl is in, you can curl up the hair (so it's on her head and not hanging) put a bobby pin in it until right before she goes on stage. Another thing you can try is to take her to a salon and get a roller set done. Those stay in place until you wash them out. The salon will back comb and finish the hair for you. Not all salons offer this service (though we all had to learn how to do it in cosmetology school) so call around and ask

  • After you take the curling iron to it clip the curl up until it is completely cool then spray with a heavy duty finishing spray.. I like Paul Mitchells freeze and shine.

  • if the hair is a light blond I wouldn't hairspray if first.. it may discolor the hair. mouse is lighter and applied when still wet will help hold the curl.
