My son's POOPER is BROKEN!

My little man is 5 months old and just started solids....bananas have seemed to clog him up really bad! What's a quick fix? He's breastfed, no allergies yet, eats squash carrots sweet potatoes and bananas. Advice?

  • One my LOs had lots of trouble that way with bananas and peas. I gave her a little bit of prune juice to get her going. GL

  • More breastmilk. Back off the solids, and then slowly reintroduce them.

  • I'm with gdiamante. If he's breastfed he doesn't need all that yet. Foods are only for practice, not nutrition. Stop solids for at least a couple of months, then slowly reintroduce.

  • I agree with gdiamante. More breastmilk, less solids. Solids only after breast, etc.

  • Thanks! I think I will try to lighten up on the solids, just a little and maybe take out bananas for a few and up breastfeeding both before and after feedings. I have found that he doesn't like to nurse before feedings and can bite at times but I think I will use the opportunity to let him get more practice with the sippy cup. Thanks for all the advice...I will turn to prune and pear juice as a last resort.

  • My son wasn't able to eat bananas til he was 10 months old.. so I would not give them again any time soon!

I agree, nurse more - solids less - no bananas for a while. Biting behavior is actually a sign he's getting too much solids.
