Does anyone have a recipe for frosting that you can actually eat?

Wilton frosting is horrible! Does anyone have a frosting I can decorate with and eat?

  • Sure! (I'm a cake decorator.) =)

Melt one cube of butter in the microwave so it's almost liquid but not quite. Pour it into a mixing bowl. Add 1 box/bag of powdered sugar (1lb) Blend until it's the consistency of wet sand. Add milk 2 drops at a time while mixing on high to beat air into it. It will only take like 8 drops! If you add too much you'll get icing. =)

*If you add too much milk ('Cause it's easy to do!!) you can add a few TBS of powdered sugar to try to even it back out.

*You can also add a little cocoa powder to make chocolate frosting.

  • I have found some really good recipes at allrecipes.com they have a lot of reviews done on them so you know what you are getting into. There is a good cake decorating group on here with tons of great recipes.

  • 2 really good places to look - the cake 101 group on here, and allrecipes.com - on allrecipes, search "buttercream".
