9 mo. old sick question

my 9 months old has bronchitis, she is on meds for it but has cut her eating down to 3-4 oz every 2-3 hours instead of 6-8 every 4 hours, is this ok? She is also still snacking on crackers and juice like normal.

  • it is fine as long as she still has wet diapers. When we don't feel well we don't eat much either so she is fine.

  • Yeah, same as truealaskanmom. As long as she's still eating and she's getting wet diapers she should be fine. If she starts to not pee, then take her to her doc asap/ or the hospital.

  • The body puts a lot of energy into digesting food so when we're sick it diverts some resources to fighting the infection. As PP said as long as she making wet diapers and does not become dehydrated she's fine. Hope she feels better.

  • Just like when you are sick. As long as there are wet diapers. And she isnt lethargic. You will notice the difference soon with her meds. Just watch closely, it should be fine in about 5 days mamma.

  • Babies aren't really supposed to have juice according to the AAP. The max recommended for toddlers is 3-4 ounces a day. Babies are supposed to drink breastmilk or formula and water. If your baby is on antibiotics the juice could further upset her digestive system.

Make sure you hold her while giving her the bottles of formula and have her in a mostly sitting position. This will allow her to breath as well as possible while feeding. Be careful she doesn't choke and get formula in her ears or sinuses. She could also get formula in her lungs and get very sick. It's hard to eat with bronchitis or pneumonia. She may eat more this way.

Crackers aren't good for her and she could choke. Find something nutritious she likes to gnaw on. Something with Vitamin C would be great.
