truancy laws in VA

I was wondering what happens to a parent who hasn't sent their 16 yr old to school in 7 months. the mother has a court date this Friday. there is no real good reason for the child being out of school that I know of. The mother is on probation for other reasons on top of this.

  • In Virginia, parents can be fined and jailed for failure to adequately supervise school-aged children, which includes making sure they are attending school.
