A little bird appeared at our door, flew inside....What to do?

We had a little goldfinch appear at our entryway, perched on a stuffed robin we had near the door. It then fluttered around and flew inside.

I know it can't live in our house so I guess we will have to take it out gently...any ideas?

  • Put a towel over it & gently pick it up & release it outside again.

  • Just leave a door open if possible. It will leave.

  • Make sure you keep a close eye on it til it's gone - last year we had a bird fly in our house, didn't realize it didn't leave right away, found out a few weeks later it had apparently been in for a couple of days hiding out in the same spot - there was a ton of poop on the floor underneath where it perched (totally hidden, found the poop when we moved furniture). To this day we don't know what happened that we thought it had left right away...but now that I just typed that it makes me wonder if 2 birds didn't fly in and only 1 flew right out...? But watch & search for poop and clean it up, it stains, blech!

  • I will make sure we get it out tonight.Thanks.
Was the bird you had okay when you found it? What was it doing all that time besides pooping? :-)
I hope this one is okay since it seemed confused perching on the stuffed robin's head(and dh's).

  • It's an old myth that if a bird flies in your house, someone is going to die. I don't believe in it and it's been debunked, but that was the first thought that came to mind.
