Do people honestly believe the world would be better with no Religion at all?

So religion is the big issue with the world's problems? The Earth would become a paradise of love and freedom to do and live as you want?

  • It would not be better or worse, it would just be different.

  • I don’t think for a moment that the world would turn into a utopia. But all you have to do is look at the middle east to see the negative effects that religion is having, and how religion is making finding a solution to the conflict there effectively impossible.

  • We would have only the laws of men to rule us, and men make shitty laws. I like religion.

  • It would remove justifications for horrendous acts. Without justification, not as many people would commit them.

Every year some parents let their children die because they choose to pray instead of seeking a doctor. If prayer wasn't an option, that wouldn't happen.

  • It would be a little bit better, but not that much. Stupid people would still do stupid things and evil people would still do evil things. There would just be less stupid people doing evil things.

  • Religion is far from the cause of all of man's issues... Men are the cause of man's issues... Greed, lust, & Pride! Not religion. Religion is only an excuse, it's not the cause!

  • I don't think religion is the big issue with the world's problems, the big issue with the world's problems is people's egos and choosing to demand that their choice of anything in life is better than anyone else's.

Believe what you want but practice and live kindness and respect to all and the world's problem(s) will be less.

  • the world needs faith...thats for sure...but organized religion does cause a lot of conflict...no religion is the right religion....having faith is all thats important...you don't need to join a group to have faith

  • Some people think so. I don't know how much of a difference it would make at this point. The world is so corrupt. More people may be sleeping around, homosexuality would be totally ok, yadda yadda. But people would still kill for selfish purposes, finding another excuse. People would still have prejudices, but for other reasons. The world would have "religion" no matter what. Worshipping leaders or other people. Cults. Jedi-ism or whatever.
The world would be the same or worse than it is now. I don't see how it would be better. You think there would be any less suicide bombers without Islam? No... those people are brainwashed. They would kill themselves all the same if it meant honor, or that it is really "a lie. they won't REALLY die" etc.
People hate religion so much because it means living for someone else, not "feeling good" or living for ones self...
