  • God speaks to us through his word and through people (who know and practice the word) . He also speaks to us through our spirit.

  • I pray, and then I listen for the answers that I get in those prayers. Do I find a sense of peace and "rightness" in the answers that I get? Is the answers that I get in line with scripture (though keep in mind, even Jesus was tempted by Satan, and he (Satan) used scriptures when he did it...)

Also though, as simplistic as this might sound, knowing when God is talking to you is sort of like knowing when your dh says your name, or when some stranger says it. You know, because you talk to him (your dh) all the time, and recognize his voice. Same with God - you talk to Him and listen to Him, and you come to recognize His voice.

  • Pray about it.
Does the answers I get align with scripture?
Do I have peace about taking that decision?

  • "God speaks to us every day, only we don't know how to listen." - Mahatma Gandhi

It's more of a intuitive thing. You just know that 'KNOWING" is GOD. For me, if I'm supposed to get a message, I start to see and hear it EVERYWHERE - dreams, books, sermons, TV shows, on the radio, conversations with friends, etc. God won't give up until you "get it".

Remember, God never asks us to harm anyone or anything. If you're getting a message like that, it's NOT God.

  • A man whispered, "Goddess, speak to me".
Then, a meadowlark sang, but the man did not hear.
So the man yelled, "Goddess, speak to me!"
And the thunder rolled across the sky.
But the man did not listen.
The man looked around and said:
    "Goddess, let me see you"
    Then, a star shone brightly.
But the man did not notice.
    And the man shouted:
    "Goddess, show me a miracle"
    And a baby was born.
But the man did not know.
So, the man cried out in despair:
"Touch me Goddess, and let me know that you are here!"
Whereupon, Goddess reached down and touched the man.
But the man brushed the butterfly away and walked on.
