How much do you have to earn to claim a "homestead" tax Credit?

What are the guidelines on what a family can earn to be able to claim the "homestead" tax credit? Anyone know? Or where I can find it? Thank you for your reply.

  • the homestead tax credit, here in FL anyways works by you going to the tax collectors office, filling out the paperwork Then when the next years property taxes come out, you have a credit. I have a 130K house, but my taxes are for 80K because of the tax credit.

  • just got mine here in MI, yep, just take it in and you should qualify as long as you filled out the paper at the nearest city or town hall or wherever the do zoning and ordinance paperwork at near you.

  • All you need is a "homestead" whether you rent or own--as long as the homestead is in your name or you are on the lease agreement--it's not based on your income. Fill out the paperwork at your town's admin office, and you'll get your credit automatically mailed to you when it's calculated and sent out.
