Playing ice hockey pregnant?

How long do you think it's safe to keep playing competitive team sports? I play ice hockey in a non-checking league but there is still physical contact.

I have a book on pregnancy and fitness and it says your health care provider will usually ask you to stop competing between 15 and 27 weeks. I'd be happy if I got to keep playing for the first 12 weeks.

Anyone have any experience with this?

  • Your center of gravity changes when your pregnant. I'd be worried about falling down.

  • But do I really need to be that worried about falling down (while very well padded) for the first couple months?
