How did/will you celebrate babies 1st birthday?

Balloons, colored/ themed plates, napkins, streamer. We will be BBQing at a park near us with train rides, a carousel and a duck pond. What else? The really little ones will be too young for pinatas, but should I have one for the 5-6 kids that are old enough to do it? How else to keep adults entertained?

  • We didnt really have a "theme" persay due to the fact my mom & her husband came a day b4 the party and loaded up the back yard with tons of crap lol.. we had everything from one of those big jumpy things.to a freaking petting zoo. NO JOKE. really everything will be fine and dont worry to much on entertaining the adults their there for your childs bday not a group party.

  • HAHAHA Wedidn't have a party for my son's 1st. We probably won't do anything for our daughter's first next fall. They are so little, won't remember it, and babies become overwhelmed so easily. Didn't seem worthwhile.

  • With the boy, we took me, er, him to Chuck E Cheese. He had a blast. The stage show was his favorite part, and he wore himself out in the play area. A couple days later we had ice cream cake with the other grandparents. Because they showed up with it.

With the girlchild, we did Chuck E again (at her brother's insistence.)

I agree, it'll be fine. The adults will be plenty entertained keeping kids out of the duck pond. :O)

  • we arent really doing a "theme"....just colors. she will be wearing a bright pink and white outfit, so we are just going with pink and white decorations. i do have a Happy 1st Birthday banner, and balloons. we are just having family and friends over to the house for pizza, cake and ice cream. just celebrating having Lilly with us for the last year!! nothing fancy.

i am considering getting a pinata, but thats for the 3 older kids who will be at the party (two 5 year olds, and a 4 year old). i havent decided yet, though.
