As in a capital city? Or does each state have a capital city instead?
Or does America have a capital state even?

Like France's capital is Paris, England's Capital is London and so on....

  • The Capital of the United States is Washington D.C. There is a capital in each state as well.

  • This brings up a good point which is under-emphasized nowadays.

The U.S. is actually an association of 50 separate countries - States which have United together.
Each State does have its own separate government - Senate & House, Governor (like the President), and a State Supreme Court. So, each State has its own seat of government - its own capital city, with the Capitol building in that city.

There was a little bit of stuff which the first States wanted to have taken care of for ALL of them together - things like the national currency (which the gov't no longer takes care of - in the 1930's that was put into the hands of private banks !), etc.

So this created a need for a spot where NATIONAL business could be handled. They set aside a small amount of land for this - OUTSIDE any of the States. It became the city of Washington, District of Columbia.

Washington, DC is the nation's capital. But NOT itself a state!

  • You don't have to be an American to know what the capitol of the USA is. LOL. I think the OP is fooling with us.
