I do the same thing..i have an 8 week old daughter and her room is right next to ours..i am a light sleeper so when she cries i can get up in a snap. As long as you dont think you will sleep through her hunger cries then you should be fine :)

Turn it off!...LOL...you need your rest and so does she. If youre right there, you will hear her if she stirs enough to know she needs something. Save the monitor for when shes napping and youre in the other room. Congrats on your sweet baby!

Turn it off. You'll get used to the different cries and know when you need to run in and when she's just settling back to sleep. My dd still wakes up and fusses at 16 months for a minutes and goes right back to sleep. She's two rooms down and I hear here fine. We just use the monitors for naps so we can do yard work or visit the neighbors for a bit.

As long as you can hear her turn it off. It is hard for me too because the baby is in my room so I hve trouble deciding if she is hungy or just having a bad dream.

I didn't get a baby monitor cause at the time of my pregnancy, we lived in a one bedroom apartment. We moved shortly after I had or son into a two bedroom and the rooms are like this [ BR] _______ [BR]. At first, I worried about not being able to hear him, but if he needs something, I promise she will let you know. Plus (for myself) being a mom has turned me into a super hearer. I can hear him at the slightest whimper from rooms away && I'm sure you'll get this magic power after getting use to not having the baby monitor.

I had a similar situation and did the same thing. At that age, if they need you, they will let you know!!!

i would since you can hear everything anyway. If she gets hungry enough sh will cry loud enough to wake you.

if you can hear her well enough without it, why use the monitor?
I was thinking of turning mine off to get him to put himself back to sleep at night (he'll be 2 in november) but im too nervous that i wont wake up when he gets up in the morning and he'll be upstairs whining. My bedroom is downstairs and my son is upstairs.
