Will they get the votes?

Obama made it clear that they will try the nuclear option if Republicans don't come to their side. They would prefer to do this to save face with their base than enact a smaller, less expensive ( plan B) bill. Obama says they will do this and accept what the elections will bring. Right now they don't have the votes but I expect more bribes to acomplish that within a month or 2. What say you? Liberals, what would you prefer? Nuclear against the majority of Americans or a smaller bill just to show they got something done?

  • Steph - I'm also interested in getting your views.

my views are that a small victory will make dems feel like in some way they won the 'big' when they really just compromised - something both sides should be more willing to do to get the job done instead of always wanting their way. they work for us the people and while many claim to have the interest of the American people at heart it has been proven time in time again that it's their own private agenda they are more interested in satisfying.

Is isn't against the majority of Americans, and maybe you should do some research on the fight over getting the original social security passed

  • The majority of Americans have no clue whats going on in the political world. Those who have health care are not concerned.
I want Obama to pass the best bill possible for those working Americans who live without health care insurance. Go Nuclear!

Yea, and look at what SS was suppose to cost based on ORIGINAL~ and then what it costs NOW? Look at how we (20 and 30 year olds) may not even HAVE SS when we turn 62, 65, or 70...  You are saying you want that cost and burden place on your children?  I prefer to protect my chidren from paying for waste.  Start the bill OVER. Bipartisanship.  Not this crap.

  • FABULOUS clip from yesterday's summit! If you haven't seen it yet, it's worth giving up 6 minutes of your day. :o) THIS is what the MAJORITY of fiscal conservatives WANT!  Listen carefully to what Republicans AGREE with regarding the Democrats plan!
