I need advice on a rear facing car seat that changes into a front facing car seat.

My son is 6 months and almost weighs 20lbs so I need to start thinking about a new car seat that is super comfy and easy to use.

  • We LOVE our Britax Marathon. My daughter was quite hefty and had to move at 7.5 months. She loved the "big girl seat." She is now two and a half and still has plenty of room to grow in it. It's a little pricey but was worth every penny.

  • We love the True Fit, which RF to 35 and FF to 65 for a little under $200. I don't have, but really like the MyRide by Graco and would get one if I could. It RF to 40 and FF to 65 and I believe is between $150 and $200. On a budget, the Scenera is a decent seat, RF to 35 but only FF to 40, and doesn't offer that much extra leg room for an ERFer, but still serves its purpose. My 2 1/2 yr old DS rides RF in a TrueFit in my car and a Scenera in dad's.

  • We have a Cosco Scenera. It rear faces up to 35, then forward up to 40. It is available at Walmart for under $100.

  • We also love our Britax Marathon.

  • Another vote for the Britax Marathon. Not cheap but it can fit up to 65 lbs forward facing so you will not need to buy another seat. Particularly good for bigger babies as they will tend to outgrow some of the other seats that max out at 35-40 lbs before they are old enough to be safe in a booster. I really like the security of the rear facing tether on the Britax.
