Do you have Fibromyalgia?

I am wanting to know what your symptoms are or have been. How have you been diagnosed? What has helped? Any other information is great. I have been having noticeably more symptoms with each passing year. I have always experienced low back pain, but it has increased, as well as overall muscle pain, joint pain, carpal tunnel symptoms, sleep disturbances, achy, cranky... just a plain mess.... Any advice would be great.

  • fibromyalgia is an over-diagnosed excuse Dr's give you when they give up on you because they don't know what else to tell you. They know a diagnosis shuts people up and satisfies their curiosity as to why they are in pain. The test is to poke you in 18 areas of the body and if 11 of those areas are tender or sore oh there you go you have a disease. Fribomyalgia means "muscle pain" thats it. Now tell me how many people have muscle pain... MOST EVERYONE especially in the areas (around the joints) where they poke you. Its an easy diagnosis but i hate to tell you all.. getting some pain meds or muscle relaxers masks your underlying issue. Go to someone who knows about your problems better than a family Dr. See a massage therapist or chiropractor. Taking a calcium magnesium supplement isn't a bad idea. and btw I too have been "diagnosed " with Fribromyalgia but i'm a massage therapist of 10 years and I know better.

  • OP Here: No I have not been diagnosed. I really do not like to go to Dr's, but have made an appointment in March for a new Family Physician. I am wanting to do research before I go.

  • I have not diagnosed either, but my dr is looking at that, lupus or rheumtoid arthritis. I have pain in all my joints, my lower back, shoulders...pretty much every where.

I would say see a rheumtoloigist...
