Spiritually speaking: Do you believe the word "hypocrite" and "hypocrisy" is thrown around way too much?

  • Wait... That does not answer the question at ALL!!! A hypocrite doesn't own up to their own faults. A hypocrite tries to hide their quirks and imperfections of character.

  • I think it is because generally it seems all religions present an "ideal" and folks will throw around the word hypocrite for followers of whatever belief that don't exactly fill that ideal.

    I don't expect followers to perfectly live the ideal, I expect them to put a sincere effort in working towards the ideal.

  • an example of hypocrisy... (Stating something about your beliefs, that clearly goes against your beliefs system as a whole, after claiming you are of that belief. )


    Westboro Baptist Church.. protests, "God hates fags".. hypocrisy lies in Matthew 22:37-40.
