okay Wycliff, Gaga, Clooney and other assorted Hollywooder's don't you care about Chile? Is it because they took better care of themselves in the first place?

I saw this on FB. Has this crossed anyone else's mind?

  • Chile is NOT a "poor country". Their economy is actually doing better than ours. We offered them support and so far they have not accepted. Personally, I believe "charity starts at home", but apparently those with the money feel otherwise.

  • it's probably bc more people died in haiti than in chile. now i do know that more people died in haiti bc their houses were crap, but still they died or got hurt so i guess they needed more help. besides you know how the hollywood type people are.... they are all about the moment..... what's hot at the time.

  • Look, it's noble to help other countries in need/crisis and I've kicked in money too BUT where's the compassion from the A-List Actors to raise money for the state of California in terrible shape or for an American based cause. Their millions could sure revamp programs in desperate need here.

  • We all know why everybody jumped on the bandwagon to help Haiti, and there is no bandwagon to help Chile. It is the 800 pound gorilla that sits in the living room and we all ignore, because it wouldn't be PC to notice it or say anything about it.

  • Didn't it take longer than 2 days before all the Hollyweirds got all into Haiti? And, yes, Chile was much better prepared for an earthquake than Haiti......but that doesn't make the devastation any less. As for Cali, they dug themselves into the hole they are in. I think they could find ways to save money, but they don't want to do THAT!!! And they just CAN'T cut THAT program!!!

  • All I know is that 250,000 people died in Haiti and most had no home after the destruction and needed help. Chili is a totally different situation. But....if they needed money,I'm sure they would donate, just as they did for Haiti.

And if the Haitian government would have used the money they have been given in hte years PRIOR to the earthquake PROPERLY ???  If they would have built the earthquake proof structures we and other nations gave the money to bild~ who knows how many live would be spared... The 1,000,000 question~Will the Haitian Government NOW make changes for the better of all people?  Or will they continue the corrupt cyphering of money for the elite?

  • And why didn't they prepare New Orleans for a flood before Katrina??? OUR Government is no big example of preparing and protecting the people either. Ha. The dikes should have been built years before Katrina. But the USA spends money on WAR instead.

  • It wasn't as serious. The quake was stronger but the damage and death toll much lower.
