What age were your kids able to recognize instruments?

Just curious!
How old were they when they could tell you by looking or by their sound and label them by Strings, Percussion, Brass or Woodwinds?

  • My son is two, and he knows the difference between guitar, bass, and drums by sound and sight. He knows the trumpet, but that's the only classical-type instrument he can identify. (We listen to country or rock around here though.) I think if he were exposed to them more he could identify them now. (Fantasia is a great movie for teaching kids musical instruments!)
