spelling questions--Vinnie or Vinny, Frankie or Franky?

i know it can go either way but what do you think? my son's name is franklin and if our baby due in june is a boy, he will be vincent.

how would you spell their nicknames? franklin actually almost always goes by franklin but vincent would go by vinny/vinnie more.

:)

  • I think "ie" names are for girls. I would go with using "y" at the end of their names. I love the name Franklin for a boy :D

  • I would use Y's. IE usually indicates it is a girl, or at least that's what I have always understood.

  • I agree that "ie" seems more feminine. I'd stick with the Y's. Love both names by the way!

  • I agree with pp. ie is feminine, when I see Frankie, I think it's a girl.

  • I prefer the "Y" versions. (For boys.) The "ie" version is how I see girl's versions of these names, more "cutsie."
