You're ugly, you don't deserve to live

Why is it that when an attractive female dies, people say "oh, she was so pretty, what a shame". Are we now valuing the lives of attractive people more so than unattractive or plain-looking people? Is it not a shame when those that aren't so attractive die? What's the deal here? I don't get it.

  • idt its that...ppl still find it ashame when less attractive ppl die...just because an attractive persons look are noticed doesn't mean ppl find their lives more's just something they notice

  • another thing i'd like to add is ppl tend to say nice things about someone when they die...if they happened to be caring, loving, or pretty...why not mention it as a sign of respect for the person who just lost their life

  • oh, she was so pretty, what a shame

I think it's the other way around. If all they can think to say about someone is "oh she was so pretty" it means she didn't have any real meaningful qualities to comment on and that's the best they can come up with to try to be nice.

  • They're just trying to think of something nice to say about someone who passed. If they say "It's a shame, she was so funny" it doesn't mean that people who are not funny have no right to live, it just means that this particular person will be missed for this reason. It's not meant to be a universal statement.
