  • Yes that is what the nuclear option and reconciliation is going to do. Under reconciliation procedures, Republicans could not filibuster the measure. But they could offer amendments. Unlimited amendments. If Republicans propose amendments and show they are not quitting, Democrats could use the nuclear option to make them stop. After some amendments, a Democrat could seek a ruling that the amendments had become abusive. Which can cause a back and forth motion on appealing who ever is chairing's decision. And that would only require a majority vote. A reconciliation bill allows a bill to pass the Senate in a limited time period, and with the support of only 51 Senators not 60.

  • If they do then there will be a revolution in November. If this bill was so good and Americans wanted it then why would Nancy fellow Democrats to sacrifice their positions and vote for it. This must mean that she KNOWS that Americans don't want it.

  • Let them do it.This is the likely scenerio of what the results would be.The bill would not even take effect until several years from now even still Americans will start paying for it in taxes before then.Pretty much every poll out there says the majority of Americans do not want this particular bill.Republicans will run promising to repeal the bill.November rolls around and American voters will vote.General consensus says even more Americans are paying attention to politics now.So it would not be pretty for those democrats.

  • It had better not. The American people don't want this thing so badly that they are having to figure out "back door" tactics to get it though. Do they ever stop to analyze what is going on. If the people wanted this, they would just have a vote and be done. It is disappointing to see these people want this form of power and control over us so badly that they are willing to just toss the Constitution out the window to get what they want. I don't give a rat's ass what they want. We want them to do our bidding, but they see us as uninformed, uneducated, unwashed, and needing to be cared for - nanny state stuff.

  • What exactly is in this bill that would make them volunteer to be sacrificial lambs to get it through? THAT is what bothers me.
