Do you realize that humans are animals too??

I am asking this, because some people like to state (in debates about dogs, cats basic animal rights) that they are just animals and they do not mean as much as humans.... this annoys me.

  • Yup! Just because we have the ability to communicate with a huge amount of language doesn't change the fact that we're still animals.

  • Apparently the only SCIENTIFIC difference between humans and "animals" is that we have "contraception" lol.
Religiously speaking... from Christianity's standpoint... humans are ABOVE animals because we have SOULS.

  • i disagree with religion because they claim that your ability to love, feel hurt, fear, and happiness come from your soul....animals feel all of those. i believe animals have souls

  • @busylovinghim.....that was way rude, there was no reason for that. all i was saying is that using the "their only animals" line is wrong, because we are animals too.

Answer by Kaelansmom at 6:09 PM on Mar. 3, 2010

  • BUSYLOVINGHIM, animals feel the same when one of their own dies. Some animals that have been with a companion for long enough will end up dying soon after out of grief and loneliness. Just because we are connected more with our own species doesn't make that death less tragic to another of the same species.

  • We aren't animals and we did not evolve from monkies. We are humans and we are above animals in every way. That doens't mean we should be cruel to other earthly beings either. We're the top of the food chain for a reason.

  • I do not put humans on the same level as domesticated or wild animals- I am not trying to be mean spirited-it is just that in life there is in fact a hierarchy. Does that mean we have the right to be cruel? No, actually, the opposite- in many cases it is our duty to protect.

  • Were humans not animals. I was taught to respect animals.
