Donny and Marie Osmond have added several dates to their Las Vegas show to make up for canceled performances due to the death of Marie’s 18-year-old son.
"These were previously unscheduled show dates, added to accommodate guests who had tickets to recently canceled shows due to the personal tragedy in the Osmond family," according to a press release.
Donny and Marie are set to return to the stage on Tuesday, March 9, following funeral services for her son, Michael Bryan.
"I think performing will help the healing process for her," the show's producer, Chip Lightman, recently told PEOPLE.

  • So you honestly think suicidal depression comes from being spoiled?? LOL The only thing I can say about that is that you've obviously never struggled with severe depression and suicidal thoughts. You should be grateful for your ignorance on the subject although I fear for any children of yours that may suffer because of it.

Sure thing sweetie, you are the expert and nobody else on the planet has ever dealt with it. Whatever you say. Now try a reality check. Do you see many anorexic or suicidal emo kids in Afghanistan or Ethiopia or Haiti? Suicide is the ultimate act of selfishness, and we propagate that attitude like prized orchids here.

  • Um, because our children are spoiled ass brats, who lack in discipline, self control, respect and the NEED FOR WANTING THINGS.

    That about covers it.

  • Undiagnosed mental illness, and a horrible system in the U.S. for treating it.

But...the kids have very little chance there to ever grow to maturity to comprehend suicide IF they were to become depressed.
If you have a likeliehood of dying from diarrhea or a bullet at the age of 7, you can't really say they would have never have become depressed to the point of suicide.

  • Here is one example of what we are doing wrong with our kids:

My son is a Freshman and trying out for baseball- there are 4 teams- Freshman, Sophomore, JV and Varsity. There are Freshman and their parents upset because their kid did not make the JV squad! Really, making a team of your peers is not good enough? You have to make an upper team to be happy. These kids are 14-15 the upper classmen can be 16-18- ever seen the size difference, never mind the experience? Talk about setting kids up to fail and killing their self esteem- It makes me sad and worried for these kids!

  • Anti depressants, sexual orientation, substance abuse, are some reasons.

We don't teach kids to deal with the realities of life. We have a hyper child, rather than channel it we just put them on drugs. There are many reasons for it. It's not a simple issue.

  • I agree wih Carpy, not a simple issue but I do not beleive for a minute that it has to do with kids being spoiled!

In the US, being suicidal as a teen is a status thing. It's a drama queen move to get attention from friends. In countries where you are lucky to live past 7 and survive the diarrhea and bullet, you have a lot more appreciation of being alive at all. Lets face it, for all the pressure we put kids under mentally and socially, physically, their lives are generally a cake walk and they have no reason to appreciate how good they have it until they are much older. Adults become suicidal due to clinical depression. Teenagers become suicidal because they get dumped.
