My 9 month old daughter still won't try any tablefood! Help!!

My 9 month old daughter still won't try any tablefood! She will only eat babyfood still! There are only 2 vegetables she'll eat: carrots & sweet potatoes! We've tried introducing and then waiting and re-introducing green beans, peas & squash to her and she gags and refuses to open her mouth! She'll eat ALL kinds of sweet fruits though! (peaches, applesauce, cherries, etc)

She has 2 top front teeth and 2 bottom teeth. I tried cooking a few spiral pasta noodles for her and she'll gag on it. I've tried toast..nope. Graduate baby snack..nope. Mashed a half of banana...nope.

I also talked to some of the other moms at the storytime (our local library hosts one on Thurs.) and their kids didn't start eating tablefood til they turned one.

So what to do? Are we slow on development? Any tricks or tips? All comments are WELCOMED!!!

  • Honestly, she doesn't even need any food until she isn't on BM or FF anymore. Before about age one, it should only be for practice anyway. Don't worry about it so much.

  • i dont think its anything to be concerned with. tablefood can wait. ntil a year breastmilk (or formula) is all the really need, i dont think you're slow on development, just a picky eater!

  • Offer whatever it is you eat. If she tries it she tries it, if she doesn't she doesn't. As other said, food before one is just for fun. She'll eventually hork everything down.

  • Don't worry about it. My son didn't eat a lot of table food until like 14 or 15 months. Just keep trying the foods and sometimes it can take around 15 introductions of a food before they will eat it so don't give up on those veggies just yet!

  • She'll eat it when she's ready. It's not NECESSARY at this point. Go with the flow :)

  • My DD wouldn't eat table food until 13 months, but my DS would grab it off my plate at 8 months. Every baby is different. Don't worry. Just be sure your baby is getting plenty of nutrients. She will eat table food when she's ready.

  • The food you want her to try, eat it infront of her and don't offer her any.Act like it is the best thing you ever tasted.then give her some.

  • Solids are purely experimental in the first year. My daughter didn't start table food until about 14 months. She had little interest in solid food for the first year and what she did eat was just fruits and veggies.
