My husband and I are going for the first time tomorrow.

What should I expect?

  • The first appointment is very basic...collecting information about both of you, how you met, why you got married, and about your relationships with both of your families (family history). Then you do some goal setting about what the issues are and what you are looking to get out of it. I jotted down some notes to bring with me so I'd remember what I wanted to make sure I said as I was nervous. Usually there is some homework involved too- short surveys or questions to answer or activities to do before your next session.

  • The first time is just getting your information ins and co-payments and what seems to be the problem but as for the first time they will talk about your abillty to then next time it will be more about your interaction with one another or lack of.
