How long does it take children's motrin to start working?

My son's temp was 101.8 at 2:06p.m. I gave him motrin by weight and at 2:41p.m. his temp is 102.2. How long does this stuff take to work? Thanks

  • It's taken up to an hour sometimes with my little one. I'd give it one more hour. Talk to your doctor before doing this, but you can alternate Motrin and Tylenol every three hours depending on the age of your child. But, like I said, call your doc first. This has worked when my daughter's fevers just wouldn't budge, BUT WRITE DOWN WHAT AND WHEN you give the medication, because it's can be hard to remember and you don't want to double up! Hope your little one feels better soon.
