Does it really work??

Does eating pineapple (fresh) really help induce labor?? I have for 1> been craving pineapple and when I heard this thought heck why not try. I am 38 weeks, 2+cm dilated, 90% effaced, have been loosing my mucus plug for 2 weeks now and having mild abdominal cramping. What is your opinion, has this worked for anyone??

  • I don't know of it ever actually working or being proven to work. An enzyme is believed to help trigger contractions, I think.

Moms might eat it around the time labor starts, but likely a coincidence.

But sex is a LOT stronger and more helpful...

  • It doesn't work! I ate about half a pineapple a day for almost two weeks before my due date and my daughter was a week late!

  • I read that you would have to eat like 4 WHOLE pineapples, core and all, for it to work.

  • Nope, but pineapple is still good for you and eating it can't hurt!

Babies come when they're ready, and it sounds like you're getting closer by the second. Soon!!!
