  • I have an 8 year old daughter and we are up at 6:15 every morning except on weekends. Her bed time is 9:00 on school nights and 10:00 on the weekends. However, as a reward, I allow her the ability to read for 30 minutes as long as she stays in her room. One time out and it's lights out. This has been working really well for us. She likes the time to read and usually, she is asleep before the 30 minutes is up. This gives her time to relax and unwind for a while so she can sleep better.

  • My almost 10yo daughter goes to bed at 7pm on school nights. We tried 8pm at the beginning of the school year and she wouldn't get up in the morning (they have to get up at 6:45am). She was skipping breakfast and staying in bed until 7:30 and then trying to get dressed and ready in 5 minutes. She was late 4 times in the first 2 weeks of school. When we switched her back to 7pm bedtime she started getting up at the normal time again.
On weekends bedtime is 9pm for all the kids and in the summer they stay up until 10-11pm because they are usually still outside playing at 9pm.

  • On school nights, my kids (17 and almost 16) go to bed between 9:30 and 10. When they go at 9:30, they can read or whatever in their beds, but, except for when something special is going on, lights are out at 10.

They get up for school at about 6:30.

  • My daughters are 10 and 9 and their bed time is 9:00pm sharp on school nights. On weekends their bed time is 10:00pm but sometimes I will extend that for special circumstances.
