how do i get both my kids to sleep in their own beds

i have a son whos turning 2 next month Carter and a son whos 10 months Cam. Since Carter was born i babies him and let him sleep with me and my husband. he has a toddler bed and will not sleep in it. he needs to fall asleep with one of us in the corner of the bed and i have to carry him to his own bed. hes always done that and now its getting a little crowded with cam. hes always been babied also . he wont fall asleep anywhere but in the stroller or on the bed next to us. i dont know how to get them in their own beds. their beds are in our room right next to us too because i thought that would be easier. theyre very clingy so we just started them out here. i dont know what to do. any suggestions?

  • ahh well i suppose for now that makes it easier. more than likely you are gonna be exhausted by the time you are done. but its gonna be a matter of putting them back in their bed every time they get out and reinforcing that it is time for the big boy bed for them. and just keep doing it. you have to remain consistant.

  • You put them in their own beds and keep on doing that tell they understand that tha's where they sleep.

  • It's wonderful you have babied your babies. That is what babies are for.

For all of time babies have breastfed and slept with their mothers. It has been been the way babies survived. It is normal for babies to wake at night until they are 3 and start sleeping on their own sometime around then depending if they have brothers or sisters to sleep with. In most countries it is normal for mothers to sleep with their 2 year old and babies.

We don't know how much you harm a child by forcing them sleep all night on their own. How much it harms a child forever. For example children forced to sleep alone may have relationship problems and higher divorce rates.
