Armageddon?

Ok,I'm religion dumb and don't know much about thses end times scenarios. So what happens? Jesus comes back and takes all the saved folks, and all the rest burn in hell on earth or something? I've heard something about a war here between God and Satan or whatnot? So where do all the animals go? Heaven,or do they stay here? Is it true all the bodies rise up out of their graves? Educate me!

  • *sigh* i think the "rapture" (x amount of war on earth after jesus returns, blah) is a load of hooey. It isn't even IN the bible, namely not Revelation. It is just a concept someone came up with... I see it as totally pointless.
This is how it is... pretty sure:
-god will come back like "a thief in the night". no one knows the day or the hour. always expect it. there will no longer be life on earth.
-yes we are in the "end times' and have been since Jesus died.
-The dead Christians will go up to heaven first. Then the living. The non-Christians (un-believers, etc) will be cowering in fear and will be sent to hell to suffer in whatever way it is for eternity.
-animals will die. they do not have souls. they are just animals and would return to dirt, etc. but the world will end... whether it i blown up or just wiped out of existence. the purpose of earth is us. without us, i dont see the need for its existence.

  • dead will rise, John 5:28-29

28Do not marvel at this, for an hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment.

    Earth not destroyed,
    Psalm 37:11
11But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace

wicked cut off, the good to live on earth
    Proverbs 2:21-22
21For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.
22But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.

  • Rev 16:14,16 Armageddon is known as war of the great day of God Almighty.
Dan 2:44 God will set up His Kingdom and end all other kingdoms. His Kingdom is for eternity.
Zeph 2:3 The meek ones of the earth will be protected Romans 10:13
Rev 20:3 Satan will be cast into the abyss
Rev 20:4-6 There will be resurrections to heaven and the earth
Acts 24:15 Resurrections of the righteous and unrighteous (John 5:28,29)
John 11:11-44 The resurrection of Lazarus is a great example for us to see how Jesus will resurrect people.

My belief is that we will remain here on earth. This is where we are now. This is where we would remain if Adam and Eve had not sinned. God created the angels to live in the heavens.

  • If you really want to have an understanding of the end times Mike Bickle did an extensive study on this at mikebickle.org You can watch the videos, read the notes along with it and glean a lot and do your own research as well. He explains in detail all that will happen according to the word of God. I suggest the 9 video 1 hr long each The Omega Series.

  • Every denom has their own interpretation of eschatological events. I don't believe in a secret rapture, 7 year tribulation period, or that all Jews will accept Christ in the end. I believe that believers will go through a short time of tribulation (protected by God as were Noah and his family in the ark, the Hebrews in Egypt, Daniel in the lion's den, the three Hebrew boys in the furnace,...) The righteous dead will be resurrected upon Christ's return and we all will go to Heaven at the same time. The wicked will be slain with the brighness of His coming, and will remain dead for a thousand years. Satan will be confine to this earth with no one to tempt, awaiting his reward. After the thousand years are finished, the wicked will go out onto the breadth of the earth in an attempt to take the Holy City and fire will rain down upon them from Heaven (the second death).

  • Satan, those who rejected Christ, and the entire sin-cursed creation will be consumed. God will make the earth and heavens over anew.

  • Basically, no matter how you look at it, for the most part, what it comes down to is eventually all who were righteous Christians will go to heaven, the unbelievers/false-Christians/etc. will go to Hell. It doesn't really matter WHAT we believe about the end of times... it has nothing to do with out salvation. One way or the other we will end up happy and joyful or miserable and suffering forever.

    Psalm 104:5 (King James Version)

5Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever.

    Psalm 37:9-11 (King James Version)

9For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.

10For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.

11But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
