  • There are companies that pool info like that, but it's a paid service and only as good as the companies that use it. Rent a center type places use them, too. The chances that a landlord is using one and actually finding you in it are slim unless you've only rented from huge corporate rental places that use the services. It's more often used for finding people that skip out on the rent than it is for screening new renters.

  • I don't know of one. But a friend of mine rents out to people and he checks their crimal history which is open to the public on a state website. It not only shows criminal offences but also small claims and collection actions.

  • No place I've ever lived has done this, in fact they told me they don't look at previous rental history. They only look at credit and criminal. If you are the landlord please be sure to carefully check out their previous landlord and make sure they aren't asking a friend or family member to make up stories. Make sure they are who they say they are.

  • Not that I know of but many rental applications ask for previous renting history including landlord phone numbers so they can call and see what kind of tenant you were. We're trying to rent now and no one will give us a chance because our of credit report (declared bankruptcy last year) and we have no rental history since we've been living with family for most of the last 10 years (which doesn't count in their eyes) and the one guy we rented from screwed us over and I'm sure would say we were awful tenants (in the end they stole over $4000 worth of our stuff including irreplaceable items, most of the kids' toys and our wedding rings).
