(minimum 6 characters)

5 pounds 12 ounces 18 inches long

possibly 6 days premature or 1 week overdue. (they changed her due date half way through the pregnancy).

is that a low weight baby? (her 2 other babies were 2 pounds more and full term).

  • It's a low birth weight but there are reasons other than being premature that can cause low birth weight. Why did they change her due date?

  • My smallest baby, born 4 days before my due date, was 7lbs 14oz - so yeah, to me that is tiny. My SIL had 2 babies, born at term, who were barely 6 lbs (which I find funny because she was HUGE - and not just her belly, she's a big girl and had a huge belly).

  • depends on the genetics as well - my SIL is a teeny tiny little thing and her full term babies (after a healthy pregnancy) were 5 pounds, and 6 pounds.

mine were 7 and almost 9 pounds.

  • 5 lbs is a normal weight. 7 lbs is considered a big baby. Sounds like you have a healthy baby, congrats Momma!!
