Flinstones vitamins versus prenatal vitamins

I cannot swallow big pills so they gave me chewable prenatal vitamins, they make me so sick when I am trying to take them. Many mothers told me to take flinstones vitamins instead. What are your thoughts and how many do people take? I am heating so many different answers and I am confused.

  • If you read the directions on a bottle of flinstones, it says "for children AND ADULTS" so no, they're not JUST for kids. Adults deserve yummy vitamins too :)

OP: I take TWO flinstones a day. My doc gave me the OK. The iron in prenatals keeps me sicker than a dog. I would have went without prenatals at all if it weren't for flinstones :)

  • you can take finstones....they are basically the same thing but they cost a lot less and are tolerable...i take children's CARS gummybear vitamins cause i always overdose on zinc and riboflavin on prenatals

  • I've heard taking the flintstone vitamins are better than none, but not all that you need.
Have you tried prescription prenatals? They often make them in a smaller form. I have found that taking my (otc) vitamins right before bed works best for my body.

  • They prescribed these prenatals that were too big. So then they gave me chewables which make me wanna vomit while I am taking them cause they taste so bad. Guess I should talk to the doc.

  • I know there are a few key things you are needing from your prenatal: folic acid, B Vitamins, Iron, Calcium .... etc. I would compare the contents of a prenatal to your children's chewables and make sure it covers at least the most important vitamins you want to be receiving to have a healthy baby.

  • they do have the same ingredients as prenatals

  • Prenatal vitamins have more imgredients and higher dosages that are necessary for pregnant women. Finstones are for KIDs...LOL.They aren't adults.they aren't pregnant. See...this is why you should not ask Moms at CM...they don't have a degree and don't know as much as your DOCTOR!!!!

  • The moms I talked to were my sister and a girl I work with. They both have 2 healthy children. I wanna do what is best but I also don't want to gag every night.

  • its not just her doctor...countless numbers of doctors will tell their pregnant patients to take children"s multi vitamins...just because prenatals are good for some doesn't make them good for others

  • Actually, Anon :55, I DID ask my doctor about it because I started gagging on big pills and he said the chewables are just fine. I just ensure that I'm taking extra folic acid (small tablets that I can still swallow) and an iron supplement (also small tablets) to ensure that all is well. He said that was a good plan and supported it fully.

OP, you're probably good to go.
