  • have you called a shelter to ask if they can arrange for you to talk to a lawyer- you could have more rights than you think- lawyers do a certain amount of pro-bono work (free) - a shelter may be able to make suggestions-

    good luck

  • I am a landlord and it all depends on your lease. Did you explain your situation to your landlord? Can you work something out with him? I would try that. We wouldn't throw someone out if we knew they were trying and planned to pay.

  • I think they have to give you 30 days- maybe he's trying to get them to move 'voluntarily' -

  • Call the Sheriff's Dept and ask them how many days. You have children. That makes a difference and usually makes it longer. In my state the landlord has to send a certified letter but then we have 3 days to get out! However, if your rent is that high and your dh only makes $800 a month then you can't afford rent there anyway. See about govt housing THEN ask for your damage deposit back from the landlord. If you don't damage the apt he has to give it back.

  • i figured out what the letter is, its a notice to say u have to pay or he can start the eviction process. DHS won't help unless its a court order then they will pay it all
