  • I believe so, yes. IMO, all religions promote the same values and work to cultivate the same virtues (compassion, kindness, forgiveness, wisdom, etc).

  • like what?

Answer by Anonymous at 10:49 PM on Mar. 9, 2010

  • i would have to say no...even though that's kind of a vague question.

  • Essentially, yes, because morality has vast and varied definitions.

  • Define morally equivalent. They don't all share the same morals, so it's not a one to one comparison. What is a moral act in one is a despicable act in another.

  • no,

morality is based on the individual, NOT the religion. A religion may give guidelines to help achieve good morality.. but list or no list, morality has to be carried out by the individual, and their interpretation of morals.

  • Just because one individuals morality means one thing, another may find their morality to be horrendous.

  • That's an oxymoron. Religions do not have equivalent morals because the people that practice those religions do not have equivalent morality. Proselytizing is common in christianity and muslim beliefs (to the point of converting or dying in many cases), but not in Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism or about any other belief system. Hindus and Muslims believe in forced marriage, often with children as young as 6 yrs. old. Christians and Jews don't, though child-molestation and mutilation is common in both. Morally, nothing is equal where religion is concerned.
