Is it possible for a baby to teethe @ 2mos?

My son is 2 mos & has been fussier than usual. He also has colic but his cries are different from regular ones. He wont take the bottle or binky but he doesnt have a fever. But when I put my finger in his mouth, he'll bare down & be just fine then. I thought babies started teething @ 3 mos?!?!

  • it is possible. my first didnt get a tooth until 11 months! my second is 6 months now, and he still doesnt have any teeth but he has been drooling a lot and really biting down on things since about 3 months. ive heard that a babies teeth can start bothering them long before they start to erupt from the gum. so maybe it is just that. 2 months is really early, but not impossible. i think the average age is 5-7 months for the first teeth. if your baby stops taking bottles though and isnt eating well, i would call the doctor. could be something else, like an ear infection. good luck.

  • My oldest didn't actually get any teeth at 2 months, but she started drooling BIG TIME and liked chewing on things as if it felt good on her gums. She didn't actually get her first tooth until sometime around 9 months! She drooled like a faucet until around 10 months old, then suddenly stopped. It was weird.
