Just curious to see how common this is.... My friends son had a horrible reaction and actually broke out with a really bad case of the chicken pox all from the vaccine.... my daughter is scheduled in 2 weeks to get hers... Anyone else experience this or something like it? Also, when we were all babies we didn't have to get this vaccine... Is this shot a mandatory one? (to get into school)Answer Question

The chicken pox (varicella) vaccine is fairly new. We did not receive it as children because it didn't exist. People with an egg allergy should not receive the vaccine. No vaccine is mandatory. Most states have multiple exemption statuses. I think only 2 states accept ONLY a medical exemption.
