Toddler hitting themselfs when frustrate

My 21 month old daughter has been hitting herself in the head or finding the closest object to her and hittig her head on it when she gets frustrated or mad. I have heard its normal tantrum behavior, but was curious if anyone else has had this problem.

  • yeah my 3 year old still does that sometimes. I just ignore her and she stops.

  • My son does the same thing. I too just ignore him and he eventually stops.

  • my 3 year old will bite has to be ignored...the more attention you pay to it, the more they'll do it.

  • My 2.5 year old smacks himself on the top of the head, too. It isn't hard, but I guess that is just how he shows his frustration.
