  • They are buying weapons of all sorts. Keep looking Carpy, they are just hiding them in the different departments.

  • For protection! You would be the first to complain that "Obama" did not protect our country adequately.

Who does the Department of Education need protection FROM? The children? The teachers? The parents?

I don't know, why don't you ask the kids at Virginia Tech? They need protection from all the crazies out there!

  • But...but....most of you are all in favor of the 2nd ammendment and for everyone to own weapons and all that ...so,why worry about this? The Dept of Education wants weapons just like you do,right?
    Arghhhhhh.....
Actually, I hate guns and wish that NOBODY had any guns. SO...this is kind of unecessary,IMO. The 2nd ammendment made sense a few hundred years ago but not now.

In some areas--this is obvious!  I teach in a gang infested area where both children and parents are armed and dangerous.  Teachers are not permitted to bring weapons into the classroom (for obvious and reasonable reasons).  But yes, from students and parents.  Not all are upstanding, moral citizens.

  • Hey, I'm really happy that so many people on here, (all anon, of course) support the right to bear arms and would be happy to see the school administrators and hall guards armed with shotguns! How PROGRESSIVE of you!

At the same time, lets keep punishing kids for bringing 1/2 inch Lego guns from school, or point their fingers in a gun-like matter.

    *sarcasm*

There seems to be a weird disconnect, IMO. Paranoia seems rampant.
