I always thought that was ONE of the main differences between us & them. Like it was one of the main sticking points 'in the beginning' was that we were given free will and this beautiful garden and Satan was jealous of the relationship his father now had with these 'new' children.
However in a recent conversation with some JW's who stop by my house - they say No; that's not correct and that Angels have just as much free will and choice as to if they want to follow God or not.
I'm now confused...

satan being cast out of heaven was a consequence. he had free will and chose to not honor God, thus being thrown out of heaven. essentially he chose to leave heaven. we all have free will but if we chose not to follow God we chose not to go to heaven. i don't see this as a hard concept to grasp.
