Would you consider this a healthy snack?

Handful of cheez-it crackers and like 5 halved grapes and some american cheese for 14 month old with milk? My husband didn't think it was a very good snack..mainly b/c i mixed grapes and the crackers lol

  • thats pretty healthy to me. the american cheese & cheez its may have a little fat, but kids need more fat then we do. cheez its are also a good alternative to potatoe chips & things like that...

  • It sounds just fine. I typically give our 20 month old whole grain crackers. (He loves whole grain Goldfish and Wheat Thins.) I try to give a protein, fruit, veggie, dairy and whole grain at each meal. Snacks are a time when I shoot for 2 good things like string cheese and apple slices.

  • There's better crackers to choose, and there's better cheese to choose...it was okay. Not the best, but certainly not the worst! I would not consider it healthy but not totally unhealthy.

  • Yes and no. I would have done unsalted saltines and not the cheez its.

  • Sounds good but as others have suggested, there are better choices on crackers (i.e. whole grain ones). nothing wrong with american cheese..

  • Try wheat thins or the all natural baked white cheddar cheetos next time. My kiddo really likes guacamole which are good fats. And you have tomatoes and onions and garlic in it :) Also we make blend watermelon and other fruit to make "popsicles" .
