  • There are many different requirements and they vary state-to-state, and agency-to-agency, and whether you choose domestic infant adoption, international adoption, or foster care.

You can look at adoption agency websites that give a listing to get a general idea and you can google "(your state) child protective services" and find the state's requirements.

  • There are a ton but they vary by state and country. It is harder to adopt within the US then outside the country but most people want to look out for their own country's children first. I know the main one's are no criminal background, steady job, proper shelter, pass a psychological exam, have references, etc. You can google the requirements for your state, each state has a "checklist". Good luck!

  • Ditto--there is a ton of info online and it really depends if you are international or domestic. Just make sure you go with a well-known agency or lawyer. Do your homework. Good luck!!

  • If you adopt from the state you only have to be 21, single or married, with some type of income and complete a homestudy.
