Planned Economy or Planned Destruction

Wow! While 76 years may have passed since the following 1934 editorial cartoon was printed in the Chicago Tribune, but for the most part, its as relevant today as it was back then!

See this is what happens when we neglect to learn anything from our fairly recent history!

The captions read:

"Planned Economy or Planned Destruction."

"Tugwell Head. Brain Twister/Truster."

"Power. Whoopee! Ickes. Wallace. Richberg."

"Young Pinkies from Columbia and Harvard."

"Depleting the resources of the soundest government in the world."

"It worked in Russia."

"Plan of action for the U.S. Spend! Spend! Spend under the guise of recovery – bust the government – blame the capitalists for the failure – Junk the constitution and decree a dictatorship."

"How red the sunrise is getting – Stalin."

Your thoughts?!

  • ...and that wagon they are riding? That's the Economy. Who pulls that wagon? The PRIVATE sector - the small businesses, large businesses, independent contractors ... all the corporations and people who are NOT paid with gov't funds (taxpayer money).

And who is riding in it? - all the people who get their income from taxes being collected: politicians, gov't bureaucrats, etc. These are not ALL greedy bad guys - our police, public school teachers, firefighters, military, etc. are all on the gov't payroll.
But whenever we hear talk about jobs created or saved, about jobs helping the economic recovery, it IS good to keep clearly in mind that ONLY private jobs actually PULL THAT WAGON.

So, how many PRIVATE SECTOR jobs have been "saved or created"?
THAT'S the only REAL measure of economic recovery.

  • This is where teaching selective history gets us. The Wilson Progressives don't want us to know they were opposed back then too.

  • Some things just don't change. There always have been people who are "scared" and afraid of the "Big Red Menace" or the "New World Order". Sigh........

Yes, and thank God for them, at least they keep reminding the complaicent people of what could happen and vote to keep these menaces in check.

  • That is what I have been saying all along, that is Obama's master plan. Destroy our country and then build it back up to what he wants. He is just another Chavez. He said before he got elected that he was going to change our country and that is what he is trying to do.

  • Lori, that cartoon could certainly have been in any contemporary editorial! Too bad that some people can't / won't see it, and I thank God that many more CAN see it, and are trying to put the brakes on this plan of action.
