Do cats or dogs eat mint leaves and if they did would it hurt them?

I am planting some regular mint this spring (the kind you can eat/cook with/ or add to tea etc) just checking if it would hurt the pets or also if not if they even "like"to eat it as it would freshen breath. Thanks much!

  • Catnip is a form of mint, (sometimes it is called catmint) and yes, cats do eat that and it doesn't hurt them. I don't know if dogs eat any form of mint, but if they did, I don't think they would eat enough to hurt them if it was poisonous to them. As for garden mint, I grow several plants each year and neither my cat or dog ever offers to touch it.
