Census Question

I was looking it over and noticed that they say Hispanic origins, including Mexican, it seems, are not considered races for this census. Did I read that right? And if so, then what do I put for my husband, whose mother is French/Spaniard and father was Mexican? What do I put for our son, whom I always mark as Hispanic elsewhere? I know I put white for myself and my 15 year old daughter from a previous relationship.

  • I think the census is racist! Why don't they have lilly/white, pink/white, tanned/white as options, why only white? Because it would be stupid!

I agree with waldorf, We are Americans!

  • I I am sure they can give you a good answer NightP, but I think the way they have the race options is a crock!

  • Hispanic is not a race. People of Hispanic origin are European in history, Puerto Rican, Mexican, etc. in nationality. It's no more a race than Italians, Scots, or French.
